Aloha, I'm Kim! I make up-cycled bohemian accessories aka Boho Pono, original and unique creations to enhance your personal style. Boho Pono came together this past year over on Oahu, my home of 20 years. For starters I'm a major hat fanatic of all kinds but straw hats and fedoras umm...yes please! Between being a new mother of a now toddler and well having a lack luster social calendar, I wore a top knot a lot. Crownless hats ( Aura Fedoras, original and wide brim) with unique flare were on my agenda, and tah-dah, these are what I came up with! From there came: Soul Cuffs, bowls / jewelry trays, and Soul Armor vestage inspired by hat remnants as well as scraps and trims I have collected for a long time. With a use it all kind of vibe it felt so righteous (pono) to reuse, repurpose and up-cycle toss aways into new inspired wearable art! I was always a major thrifter, dissecting my own clothes, using remnants I'd find, and adding new trim and cool embellishing.I grew up in a country/ hippy area back east, then on to a hipster college town. I was exposed to worldly bohemian style, punk, gender neutral, vintage 70's, 50's and just a mash up to say the least. I was even more inspired! I continued to NYC at 20 years old and ready to continue my experimentation of self expression and style. Deconstructed was always my forte. Lace, silk, painted blazers, and especially denim creations. I was in hip Brooklyn boutiques on consignment, flowing with creativity also painting urban mural art. Now as a 41 momtrepreneur, so grateful to be on these beautiful islands creating, living, loving, and learning. Island vibration is priceless. As I'm now very much settled in with my deep rooted earthy up-cycled boho vibe/ Island style and going with it. I hope my creations can inspire, transform and change your mood upon wearing!
